Convert Markdown to PDF: what to expect
Markdown is how developers, writers and note-taking apps such as Obsidian store text, but a raw .md file looks like punctuation soup to anyone who does not know the syntax. A PDF shows the structure as intended and prints predictably.
The converter follows the widely used Markdown rules plus the common extensions: pipe tables, fenced code blocks with triple backticks, footnotes with [^1], and definition lists. Inline HTML in the Markdown is kept. The output uses fonts with wide language coverage, so accents and non-Latin scripts come out correctly.
Some platform-specific features are not rendered: Mermaid diagrams and math formulas appear as code, task-list checkboxes show as plain list items, and images linked from the web are not downloaded. Embed images as data URIs if they must appear.
Questions, answered
- Are tables and code blocks supported?
- Yes. Pipe tables become bordered tables and fenced code blocks keep their line breaks in a monospaced font.
- Do images in my Markdown appear?
- Only images embedded as data URIs. Links to images on the web or on your computer are not loaded.
- What about Mermaid diagrams or LaTeX math?
- They are not rendered and appear as code.
- Is there a table of contents?
- No automatic one yet; headings are styled and kept with their text.
- Can I upload a .txt file with Markdown in it?
- Yes, a plain text file with Markdown syntax works too.
