Order is yours
Every file shows its first page and a number. Drag the cards, use the arrows or sort A–Z; the merged document follows that order exactly.
One job, not a batch
Several inputs producing one output count as a single merge. That matters for free limits: ten files merged once is one job.
Page sizes are preserved
A4 pages stay A4 and landscape pages stay landscape. We do not silently rescale or rotate anything.
Merge PDF files: what to expect
Merging is the most common PDF task because paperwork arrives in pieces: a signed page from one person, an appendix from another, a cover letter written last. Sending five attachments invites someone to miss one. Sending one file with everything in the right order does not.
The order you set is the order of the result, page by page. If you need something more surgical, such as inserting a page in the middle of another document, merge first and then use Organize pages to move individual pages around.
Merging changes the document, and that has one consequence people forget: a PDF that was digitally signed with a certificate will no longer validate after it is merged into something else. Keep the signed original and merge a copy.
Questions, answered
- Is there a limit on how many files I can merge?
- The free tier will allow a fixed number of files and a total size per job; we will publish both numbers here when the tool goes live.
- Does merging preserve digital signatures?
- No merge tool can. Changing a signed document invalidates its cryptographic signature. Merge a copy and keep the signed original.
- Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
- Not yet. Protected inputs are rejected until a reviewed password flow exists.
- Can I mix PDFs and images?
- Convert images to PDF first with Images to PDF, then merge. Keeping the two steps separate keeps each one predictable.
- What about bookmarks and links?
- Internal links keep working within their original pages. Bookmarks from each source are kept where the engine supports it; we will document the exact behaviour with the release.
