Convert PDF pages to JPG: what to expect
Sometimes a PDF page needs to live where PDFs do not: a slide deck, a product page, a message. Rendering the page to JPG gives you a plain image that every app understands, at the sharpness you choose.
This is rendering, not extraction. If your PDF contains a photograph and you want that photograph as a file, this tool gives you the whole page with the photo on it. Extracting embedded images is a different task with different results.
JPG is a good fit for photographic pages and a poor fit for pages with sharp text and flat colours, where PNG would be crisper. We start with JPG because it is what most people ask for; PNG output is on the list once the core flow is solid.
Questions, answered
- Does JPG keep selectable text?
- No. A JPG is a raster image. Text becomes pixels and cannot be selected or searched.
- Is this the same as extracting images from a PDF?
- No. This renders complete pages. Extracting the embedded source images is a separate tool.
- Which resolution should I choose?
- For screens, 96–150 DPI is plenty. For print or zooming into small text, use 300 DPI and expect larger files.
- What about transparency?
- JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas are flattened onto white.
- How are many pages delivered?
- Each selected page is a separate JPG download. Up to 20 pages per job for now; choose page ranges for longer documents.
