Convert WebP images to PDF: what to expect
Most websites now serve images as WebP because it is smaller than JPG and PNG. When you right-click and save, you get a .webp file, and plenty of software still refuses to open it. Converting to PDF is the quickest way to make those images printable and easy to share.
WebP comes in two flavours. Lossy WebP is like JPG and suits photos; lossless WebP with an alpha channel is like PNG and suits graphics. We keep that distinction: photos go into the PDF as JPEG at quality 90, graphics with transparency are stored losslessly on a white background.
Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame, since a PDF page cannot play animation. Only save and convert images you have the right to use.

- Can I mix WebP with JPG and PNG?
- Yes. WebP, JPG, PNG, HEIC and TIFF can all go into one PDF.
- What happens to animated WebP?
- The first frame becomes the page.
- Do transparent areas turn black?
- No. They are flattened onto white.
- Is quality reduced?
- Transparent WebP is stored losslessly. Photographic WebP is stored as JPEG at quality 90, which looks the same in normal viewing.
- How many images per PDF?
- Up to 20 files per job.
